Terms of Service.

These terms set out the deal between you and Strnger. We have kept them as short and human as we can. The most important thing to know up front: Strnger is peer support, not professional care, and not an emergency service.

01The agreement

By downloading, accessing, or using Strnger, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Strnger is operated by Strnger, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

02What Strnger is — and is not

Strnger is not therapy, counselling, medical advice, or an emergency service. If you are in crisis or someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately.

Strnger anonymously connects people going through similar struggles for one-on-one peer conversations. The people you talk to are peers, not licensed professionals. Nothing said on Strnger should be treated as a substitute for professional care.

03Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Strnger. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you give us is accurate.

04Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
  • You agree not to impersonate others or to create accounts to evade a ban.
  • You remain anonymous to other users — please keep it that way and do not pressure others to reveal their identity.

05Community conduct

Strnger only works if it stays a place of respect. You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse other users.
  • Share hateful, illegal, sexually explicit, or exploitative content.
  • Encourage self-harm, suicide, or harm to others.
  • Solicit, advertise, spam, or attempt to scam other users.
  • Attempt to de-anonymise, stalk, or contact users outside the app without consent.
  • Misuse the platform or interfere with its security or operation.

Breaking these rules can lead to removal of content, suspension, or a permanent ban.

06Your content

You own what you write. By sharing content on Strnger, you grant us a limited licence to host, transmit, and display it only as needed to operate the service (for example, delivering your message to the person you are matched with) and to keep the community safe. We do not sell your content or use it to advertise to you.

07Safety & reporting

If something feels wrong, use the in-app tools to report or block another user. We review reports and may act to protect the community, including processing conversation data where strictly necessary. See our safety approach for detail.

08Availability

Strnger is in active beta. Features may change, break, or be removed, and matches depend on who else is online. We do our best to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

09Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Strnger is provided "as is". We are not liable for the conduct or statements of other users, or for any decision you make based on a conversation. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10Termination

You can stop using Strnger and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect users. On deletion, we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

11Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Where you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of your country of residence.

12Contact
